Blog Post #1
Hey everyone, welcome to my blog, where I will be talking about my journey as a photographer. Recently Lyle's World Photography has undergone some pretty big changes... After spending the past three years working largely on branding photography for creative businesses (mostly tattoo artists), I have decided to return to the portrait photography world, and try to focus on couples and wedding photography in Tampa bay area.
I did start my business originally with the intent to do portraits, but over the years I have developed a longing desire to work with couples and capture their love stories. Fortunately, Tampa and St. Petersburg are both very popular wedding destinations, so I am looking forward to the journey. Starting out in any niche is always a difficult process, but weddings seem like they can get quite daunting with the sheer amount of wedding photographers with more experience. Luckily I have had the privilege of shooting two weddings so far in my career.
The first wedding I shot was right outside of Tampa, in Keystone at a private venue. I was fortunate enough to be a server at the restaurant that partially owned the venue and offered as a potential photographer by the person in charge (my manager). It was a pretty small wedding, and honestly I didn't even really get to do the traditional wedding couple photos. The ceremony was supposed to be held on the beach at honeymoon island in Dunedin, Fl, but as soon as the couple stepped out on to the sand they decided it would be way too sunny and hot and opted for a spot in the shade on the grass. They did say the ceremony itself would be pretty low key and they were mainly interested in photos of the actual reception held in Keystone.
I had tried to get the couple alone for a couple minutes to get some photos of them together, but was unsuccessful. So I went all out on the photos of the reception and speeches. It was a cute wedding, and the couple and guests had a great time, which is what matters at the end of the day. I may not have gotten the full wedding photographer experience, but I did get more experience shooting an event and documenting the emotions of the guests and couple.
I know as a newer wedding photographer it is going to take some time and effort to work my way to the top, but I am not only excited for the journey, but ready to take on all of the challenges that await me! My goal is to find another photographer to bless me with the opportunity to second shoot for them and hopefully be able to use at least a couple of the photos I take to build my portfolio. Until then I am dialing in my couples photography, and trying to take on as many shoots as possible and using the content to build brand awareness. Maybe you will see one of my ads for wedding photography in Tampa and St. Petersburg, or maybe that is how you found my blog in the first page. Regardless I hope you stick around for the next post because part 2 will be up shortly talking about my second wedding in Tampa!
If you are a couple reading this and looking for a wedding photographer in Tampa, then I would like to say thank you for checking out my page, I know I am new, but I also know that I can capture your wedding beautifully and hope to work with you soon!
